Good news for multi-media types: Blubrry just opened to door to a massive content vault.
The podcast hosting service recently dropped Vid2Pod, a conversion service that exports audio from YouTube videos and repackages it as an audio podcast.
Episode numbers, titles, chapters and other metadata carry over. Once established, the service will automatically pull, generate and distribute audio podcast versions each time a new YouTube video is published.
An estimated 800 million to 1 billion videos already exist on YouTube. Even discounting those that wouldn't be ideal for audio-only conversion, that's a massive content bucket waiting to be repurposed into audio podcasts.
